This will remove the player from the roster and clear their contract information for only.
This runs for the season selected in the dropdown (closing that year for the whole league), not only the team on screen.
season_roster (e.g. 2024-25 stays exactly as it was, all 15 players remain).season_roster from that snapshot: carries forward players whose contracts still have years left (age / years pro +1); does not add players whose deals expired. If an expiring player already had a row in the next season, that row is removed.player_contracts row (salary years roll forward, length −1, start/end years updated).player_contracts rows; adds players to the free_agents pool; sets player card team to FA when possible; logs released on the ledger.site_config.current_season to the next season (if that row exists).
Requires the free_agents table. Run create-free-agents-table.sql in Supabase if you have not already.
